After having studied photography in art school (and having decided not to make a career out of it) I cannot deny photography as a huge part of my life. In every day life I tend to take photo’s whenever I come across something that catches my eye, or my imagination. No typical subject matter, but just every day ordinary things- things you take for granted once you see them several days of the week.
Let’s face it, when you commute to and from work, drive the kids to school or take the same route everytime you walk the dog- you quickly come accustomed to what you see. And that’s just it; that’s when you miss out. Miss out on new things, small things, things that were always there but weren’t in your line of sight. Those things attrackt my attention. That’s how my series ‘#onmywaytowork’ and ‘#whilewalkingthedog’ got started.
The #onmywaytowork serie got picked up by a local online news outlet who made it part of their dailies, for about half a year. But I’ve been doing this quite some years now. And sure, during Covid my world got a bit smaller having to work from home and such, but still, under those circumstances, I got to see and discover enough things of interest..

The #whilewalkingthedog series consists of pretty much hundreds of photo’s I took of our family dog Jip, a chocolate labrador. He has his own hashtag on Instagram, #jipdebruinelabrador. But besides photo’s of Jip I have a soft spot for pictures that capture light, preferably sunrise, and other scenes from nature. I try to visit different parks and woods every weekend, not just because it’s more fun for Jip (and myself), but it offers different views and scenes of the natural surroundings of our home town. Our hometown of Tilburg is pretty much surrounded by green zones and every one of those zones has its own identity. The one thing they have in common however seems to be an abundant amount of wildlife..
